I’m a health and science journalist, writer, and editor based in Queens. I’m currently the lead health editor at Consumer Reports and an adjunct lecturer at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.

Previously, I was a deputy editor at Consumer Reports, a senior science editor at Business Insider, a staff editor at Psychology Today, and a contributing writer at Philadelphia City Paper. My work has also been published in Scientific American, Scientific American Mind, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Philadelphia Daily News, GOOD, and other outlets. In an earlier life as a researcher, I published several academic papers and co-authored a chapter in Handbook of Natural Language Processing and Machine Translation.

I’m not the Lauren Friedman who published a book about scarves, though the book is excellent and I own it.
